Acceptable use policy

Last updated: · Effective version
This acceptable use policy (the “policy”) is part of the terms of use for QR Generator. It states what you may and may not encode or do with the service.
1. Purpose
The service exists so you can format and export static QR codes for lawful URL, text, email, phone, SMS, Wi-Fi, and vCard 4.0 payloads, with optional local styling and a local logo.
2. Permitted use
You may use the service to:
- create codes for content you are allowed to publish or share;
- encode your own contact details, or another person’s details with a lawful basis;
- encode a Wi-Fi network you are authorised to disclose, with the understanding that anyone who scans the code may obtain the password;
- export PNG or restricted SVG for print or screen use you control.
3. Prohibited purposes
You must not use the service to create or distribute codes that:
- facilitate fraud, phishing, identity theft, or payment scams;
- install or deliver malware, spyware, or other harmful software;
- attempt unauthorized access to a system, account, network, or credential;
- circumvent access controls, age gates, or licensing systems;
- stalk, threaten, or coerce a person, or reveal another person’s location or contact details to cause harm;
- traffic in child sexual abuse material or any sexual content involving a minor;
- organise or instruct a criminal offence, or evade lawful sanctions;
- send unsolicited communications in breach of applicable marketing or spam law, using encoded mailto, sms, or URL destinations.
4. Prohibited content
You must not encode or overlay:
- content you do not have the right to use, including trade marks and copyright works used as logos without permission;
- unlawful extremist or terrorist content as defined by applicable law;
- personal data of another person where you have no lawful basis and no right to disclose it through a scannable code;
- payloads designed solely to crash or exploit a reader application, including intentionally malformed URI schemes beyond ordinary validation failures.
5. Technical abuse
You must not:
- attack, overload, or probe the origin beyond ordinary use of the public pages;
- attempt to bypass the content-security policy, upload path, or local-only boundary;
- present a copy of the site as an official service of the operator;
- use automated extraction that impairs availability for other people.
6. Other people’s data
A vCard, phone, SMS, email, or Wi-Fi code can expose another person’s data or a shared secret to anyone who can see or scan the code. You must not encode such data unless you may lawfully disclose it. The operator will not see the payload, and cannot recall a printed code on your behalf.
7. No payload monitoring
Generation is browser-local. The operator does not receive payloads and does not operate a human or automated review of what you type. Absence of monitoring is not permission to break the law. You remain responsible for encoded content.
8. Enforcement
If the operator becomes aware of unlawful use — for example through a report, a court order, or a public complaint — the operator may restrict access to the origin, publish a notice, and cooperate with competent authorities. Because payloads are not stored, the operator may be unable to delete a code that already exists on paper, a phone, or a third-party site.
9. Reporting
To report a code that appears to violate this policy, email alex.jungean@gmail.com with the subject “QR Generator abuse report”, a description of the harm, and any URL or file you are allowed to share. Do not send illegal images.
10. Relation to the terms
A breach of this policy is a breach of the terms. The operator may update this policy when the law or the service changes. Effective date of this version: 20 August 2026.

The English and Romanian texts describe the same service. If they differ, the English text at /acceptable-use prevails, without limiting any mandatory consumer or data-protection rights that apply in Romania or the European Union.
